During the last 50 years of activity, Edifica C.A., one of the most renowned Venezuelan companies in the field of general and industrial construction, has actively participated in the development of urban, housing, and services infrastructure projects for modern Venezuela.

Founded in 1955 by Martin Tovar Zuloaga, a civil engineer graduate from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the Rafael Larrain Basalo an architect graduate from Ressenlaer Polytechnic Institute with just $1000, Edifica C.A. was conceived as a general contractor specializing in all construction areas of construction using reinforced concrete. At the same time, the execution of projects based on the same principles of specialization, including housing, commercial and industrial projects.

In the beginning, the main activity was concentrated in civil projects, then during the 1970’s the company expanded to other areas like mechanical and industrial projects, oil and electrical facilities, instrumentations and construction management.

Edifica also counts with numerous partners companies that allow us to offer a complete array of services bonded by an efficient management organization, based on the vast experience we have gained by executing several large scale projects.
Edifica’s constant activity has generated employment for thousands of people and has earned the company a high profile among the leaders of the integral development in Venezuela. This area has always been our main commitment.

During its long and notable trajectory, Edifica has applied an efficient management system, along with a high level of technical expertise and first rate personnel, to execute large scale projects. This has been recognized by winning the prestigious National Construction Award, twice, once in 1975, for it participation and construction of the Raul Loni Hydroelectric Power Plant and again in 1981 for the construction of Electricidad de Caracas building in Caracas.

Since it began its activities in 1955, Edifica has participated in the construction of the most important infrastructure projects in Venezuela, including some as diverse and relevant as construction of the Metro de Caracas (Caracas subway system), the construction of the  Rómulo Betancourt highway and the construction of the  bauxite management plant system in Los Pijiguaos.

In this section, we present a summary of the most important contracts that Edifica has participated in the last 45 years, which in numbers represents almost seven million cubic meters of concrete and more than seven hundred thousand square feet of construction area.
